How I Designed: Practicing New Skills

  • by

My interest in graphic design sparked when I created a magazine for my friends and me to enjoy. Even today, I love using my design skills to bring people together and help groups feel connected. Although not every school project revolves around this theme, I’m always learning new techniques that I enjoy experimenting with outside of class.

For this particular project, I designed a poster for my roommates. It was a great opportunity to apply new skills I had recently learned, such as combining fonts, creating gradients, adding grainy texture effects, and using the pen tool to create custom artwork. This project allowed me to merge my design knowledge with personal moments, reinforcing my passion for creating meaningful visuals.
